Sunflower seeds no longer in short supply

News flash, sports fans... I bought three new bags of seeds today. Mike will bring them next week.

At this moment, with seeds, a close game, and beer at the waiting, we have no worries.

The July 20 game

This was a fun game. And the Mudders are league leaders at 9 and 0. But we held them to 2 runs!! Too cool!

We were great defensively - Pete was awesome and Jake and Demie were dynamic with plays at second, too.

Mike's triple was what kept us competitive and I am glad to have finally been able to contribute.

Good game everyone. Hopefully next week we will stay on this "roll"...

Practically like a winning streak...

That was far and away the second best game we've played so far this season. Everyone contributed at bat and in the field.

I think I've figured out the pattern: our tie was the other game when I brought beer.

Shutout

Well, it's all up-hill from here.

Highlights 6/15

The undisputed highlight of the 17-5 loss came on, I believe, the first play of the game when Molly, playing 3B, caught a screaming line drive that would otherwise have planted itself in her face.

Great game last night!!!

Way to go Brewers! Down 6-2 in the bottom on the 7th and we come back to tie it!! That was by far our best defensive game of the season (while also being the best offensive as well, if I'm remembering correctly). Some of the highlights include:
  • Demie's line drive to the gap in left center
  • Paul's sparkling glove work at 1st base
  • Mr. J snagging multiple line drives up the middle
  • The infield turning multiple double plays
  • Just about everyone getting at least one hit
  • Molly getting beaned multiple times (OK, so it's not a highlight... but it was a little funny.)
Feel free to add some more of your favorite moments if I've omitted them (it wasn't on purpose). Look for an e-mail regarding practice in the next few days.

Rainout

The game will be rescheduled for the end of the season. Probably July 20th. Probably 6:15. Practice is ON FOR SUNDAY. Everyone should be there, given the time off. We'll have a pickup game. It'll be fun.

Updates

Schedule and other info will be updated soon.

What a weird game...

I don't know if it was just the weather or what, but last nights game was weird! Sure we lost, but I think it was closer than the final score (14-2) let on. Who would have thought not having the orange and the light (in weight, not in color) blue bat would have handcuffed us like that. I think we put some good swings on the ball despite the wind, replace those bats (Dave and my $20 Target bats) with the missing ones and we would have scored at least 3-4 more runs.

On the positive side, Paul and Rachel performed admirably on the left side of the infield, Mr. J somehow managed to throw strikes even with those heavy wind gusts. My favorite moment of the night however was when the ump (out loud mind you) said he was wrong when he called Pete out on the trapped flyball rather than giving him the double he deserved (I'm fairly certain it was Pete, but I don't have the book in front of me).

Oh well, so the game goes...
